GT patient over new signings

Gaffer continues work to strengthen squad

Graham Turner continues to search for the signings he believes can help make Shrewsbury Town stronger ahead of the new season.

The club have so far signed three players this summer in defenders Alex McQuade, Tamika Mkandawire and Dave Winfield.

"We're talking to probably three clubs at the moment about players," he said. "We are in need of strikers, that's obvious, so a couple of them are strikers and we're also in need of a right back.

"A lot of clubs are still making their minds up about players. There's an awful lot of players out there.

"The situation has changed with agents now. What has happened in May and June suddenly coming into July it's now a case of would we take them on trial now and have a look at them in training.

"The power, I think, has shifted in many cases to clubs. There's a lot players out there without employment, without clubs, and it's a matter of being patient and picking and choosing what we take."

GT said there was a possibility he could again look to the loan market for reinforcements.

"I'm not averse to loan players," he said. "I think it's worked well for us in the past and it will work well for us in the future. I've always been prepared to use the loan market so if we can get a better player through that system then that's what we've got to do.

"It's not a case of panicking at all. It's being patient and picking out the right ones."
