Town to train at Shrewsbury School

Former striker helps Town out with use of training facilities

Shrewsbury Town have spent the last couple of months training most days at Lilleshall but now they will also be able to train more closer to home after Shrewsbury School agreed to offer the use of their impressive facilities.

Manager Mike Jackson got in touch with former Town striker Steve Biggins, the master in charge of football at Shrewsbury School, and he has been very helpful in paving the way for the Town squad to sometimes train there.

The manager said: "I spoke to Steve yesterday and he said they will do all they can to help us which is excellent.

"The conditions there, the pitches, the setting, it's great for the lads because it's only down the road and we don't have to travel to Lilleshall.

"It keeps the connection between us and the local school which is great. It's going to be a great help to us so we thank them for that.

"It's also good involving an ex-player as well so it all ties in. We know the quality of Shrewsbury School, the facilities, and we're looking to be able to use it moving forward, especially going into this period.

"The better the pitch and the surface we can get on, the better it is for us so I'm really pleased with that."
