Lopez returns to Huddersfield

5 November 2013

Cristian recalled by his parent club

Cristian Lopez has returned to Huddersfield at the end of his month's loan spell at the Greenhous Meadow.

The Championship club opted to recall the Spanish striker owing to injuries and, in any case, Lopez  was unlikely to have been given permission to play for Shrewsbury in Saturday's FA Cup first round tie at Walsall.

Manager Graham Turner said: "I had a chat with Huddersfield about the situation as regards the FA Cup and it was always going to be doubtful whether he would be allowed to play, but they actually want him back.

"They've got an injury and have decided they will invoke the 28-day recall clause that's in his loan so he has gone back.

"He did okay for us, he's got good skills and I think that he was pleasantly surprised by the standard and he feels he's learnt a lot in the time he's been with us.

"He's got himself a little but more used to English league football."

Lopez made five appearances for Shrewsbury, scoring once in the home draw against Colchester United.
