Mickey looking to recharge after recent England games

Mickey Demetriou is looking forward to recharging his batteries for a few weeks having recently returned from England C duty.

The Shrewsbury Town new boy's season was extended after he was called up to the England C squad for an end of season tour.

The former Kidderminster Harriers left back loved the experience as he took his number of international appearances up to five.

He said: "I've got four weeks now just to shut down again before we come back for pre-season training on June 27.

"I shut down for a couple of weeks at the end of the season because I obviously knew I was going away with the England C team.

"I did a 10 day tour with them to three different countries so there was a lot of travelling.

"Now it's time for me to relax again and hopefully try to look to go away with my girlfriend for a few days. Then I'll be ready to go again at the end of June."

Demetriou added he had loved the chance to pull on an England C shirt alongside the best players in the country operating outside the Football League.

He said: "It was a great experience. I've made five appearances now and all against different teams.

"For the last trip we went out to play the Slovakian national team and they had players who played in the Premier League in their country and also the Football League in our country. We should have won the game. We only lost 1-0 in the 87th minute.

"Then we went and played a Hungary team that are gearing up for a national European Championship so you're going out to play top level teams."
