Andy Morrell joins coaching staff

7 March 2014

Jacko gets his assistant in place for the rest of the season

Mike Jackson has bolstered his coaching staff by bringing in former Wrexham manager Andy Morrell as his No 2 until the end of the season.

Morrell, 39, recently left the Racecourse Ground and the manager is delighted to have recruited a man he knows well.

"We played together at Blackpool where we were promoted in our first season," he said. "I know him well, his character and what sort of person he is. I think he fits in with what we've got here already.

"He's been a manager himself and him coming in gives us experience and having been a striker he'll help around the place.

"He's the type of person that I think we need with his character."

Jacko added the pair had kept in touch since their days playing together at Blackpool and had kept tabs on his progress as Wrexham boss.

He said: "He's come here to do a job and he'll give it everything he's got because that's the way he is."

As a player, Morrell was a consistent goalscorer for Wrexham, Blackpool, Coventry City and Bury and was manager at Wrexham for two and a half years.
