Town sign Sam Foley on loan

Yeovil midfielder joins ahead of Robin's game

Shrewsbury Town have signed Yeovil midfielder Sam Foley on an initial month's loan and he will be available for tomorrow's home game against Bristol City.

The former Republic of Ireland under-18 international was a regular for Yeovil in their League One promotion winning side last season and played for the Somerset club in their play-off final victory over Brentford at Wembley in May.

Foley's last first team appearance for Yeovil was in the FA Cup fourth round at Southampton at the end of January.

Foley, 27, previously scored 32 goals in 119 games for Newport County.

"I've spoke to Gary Johnson about him and he came on the radar a week or two ago so I've been doing some checks on him," said manager Mike Jackson.

"He's scored goals for Newport and he did for Yeovil last season. I was impressed when he played for Yeovil last year and he's been part of a promotion team which is always good.

"He's got an energy about him and he can play off the left, off the front, so he gives us a few options. It will be competition for places again so I'm made up he's here."

Sam Foley will have squad number 10.
