Town to stay in league but GT would like to see changes
Graham Turner has confirmed Shrewsbury Town will have a reserve team in the Central League once again this season.
He decided it was time to take a break from competitive fixtures for the reserves two seasons ago to instead arrange training ground matches against hand picked opposition.
But Town's reserves returned to the Central League last season and enjoyed a good campaign.
GT was still not totally happy about some of the rules implemented by the Central League but Town wll again take part.
"I'm not sure whether we've had the AGM yet, but I would have liked to have gone and made representations first of all about clubs playing on the main pitch," he said.
"I would have loved to see more games on them rather than on training grounds or non-League grounds.
"And secondly there's the amount of travel. Where is the sense in young players, in particular, sitting on a coach all the way to Hartlepool to play a reserve match when we've got enough teams in this vicinity to play without too much travel?
"Things like that I can't comprehend.
"Hull City coming over here or us going to Hartlepool, I can't quite get the measure of the reasons why that happens."
