Late Vincent goal earns Greenhous Meadow draw

A late equaliser from Ashley Vincent earned Shrewsbury Town's Reserves a draw in their opening Final Third Development League game on Tuesday.

Morecambe took the lead in the game at the Greenhous Meadow Ryan Williams found the bottom corner from Aaron McGowan's cross.

Andy Robinson then levelled the score with a low, left-footed drive across goal after driving into the box.

In the second half, Padraig Amond put the Shrimps back in front for a second time by tapping in Jack Sampson's cross from the left.

Town again equalised, though, when Liam Lawrence converted a penalty after youth team midfielder Josh Ginnelly was brought down by goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou.

It appeared the visitors would win the game, however, when Amond headed in his second for the Shrimps to give them a late lead.

But Vincent popped up at the end to help the ball in with a simple tap in.

Town's starting line-up included two trialists and Ben Burton from the Under-18s, with one trialist being on the bench and the rest of the subs made up of second-year youth scholars.

Midfielder Dave McAllister also made his first return to action from injury.

TOWN LINE-UP: C. Burton, Trialist, B. Burton, Lawrence, Smith (c), Trialist, Wildig, McAllister, Vincent, Robinson, Caton.

SUBS: Lewis, Watkins, trialist, Flint, Ginnelly.
