Abu Ogogo post Bury

25 October 2015

Abu's thoughts after the 2-0 win over Bury

Abu Ogogo was delighted to get his first goal for Shrewsbury but the midfielder felt the win was the most important thing:
“I was pleased with my performance today to get a goal and an assist but it was the three points that matter. We were determined to win today and Bury are doing well too so we are very happy to have the victory. The boys at the back did well to keep Bury out. I felt like we were going to win as soon as I got to the ground. The boys looked so up for it and we didn’t give Bury any time on the ball. We need to keep that work rate and determination up in every game we play now.”

The 25-year-old has been very impressed with Sullay KaiKai since he joined the club on loan. The Crystal Palace man got his 4th goal in as many appearances for the club:
“KaiKai is a massive goal threat. He is very direct and can play in a lot of positions so he is a great addition to the squad. It’s a shame he came off injured but I don’t know the extent of that injury.”

Ogogo is hoping he will be able to find the net more often after he scored today:
“I was always going to shoot. As soon as the ball bounced to me I knew I was going to strike it. Luckily I caught it well and t flew in. Scoring is the best feeling. I should have had a few more this season so it was nice to find the net today. It would be nice to get more than five goals this season, that’s the aim.”

The Englishman paid tribute to the Shrewsbury fans for sticking with the club and feels the team can push on and make the fans even happier in the future:
“The fans have stayed with us through this hard time so it was nice to send them home today with smiles on their faces. I think we have been unlucky not to have picked up more points at home this season but hopefully we can now build on the win today.”
“The team spirit is great. We have a tight group and we are looking to get momentum now. We have slipped below our standards of late but today we played how we should so we just need to keep it up now.”
