Abs thoughts after the draw away to Fleetwood

Abu Ogogo was content with Shrewsbury’s goalless draw away at Fleetwood:

“I think we defended well and a point away from home is not bad. I thought we had the best chances and we were a little unlucky not to nick all three points. The clean sheet was pleasing, it is our first one since October so I thought we were solid at the back and certainly deserved a point.”

The 26-year-old feels he is getting stronger after his injury and thought the whole team put in a good performance:

“I am feeling good again and I feel like I am getting stronger after the injury. I felt I gave my all today and I was quite pleased with my game. I thought Andy Mangan and John Louis Akpa Akpro had a good game too today, as did all the lads. We have a lot of talent in the squad now especially in midfield so there is great competition which keeps me on my toes.”

The midfielder believes the side can pick up more points in the next few games, starting with the trip to Blackpool:

“We still want to be getting more points and with where we are in our position points are certainly the main thing. But we did show some good signs in that game, we worked really hard and we were solid as a unit. We knew we couldn’t lose today because we couldn’t let Fleetwood get above us in the table. Hopefully we can now take this performance through into the Blackpool game.”

“It would be great to do the double over Blackpool. When they came here I thought we beat them easily so hopefully we can play as well against them when we go there. They have been in good form but we will go there full of confidence and playing well so we believe we will get the win. Our away record is decent so that should stand us in good stead when we go there.”

The former Arsenal youth player is relishing Shrewsbury’s FA cup tie with Manchester United and is hopeful of an upset:

“I was running around like I had won the lottery when I saw we had drawn United. It will be a fantastic occasion. Hopefully I can stay in the team and play in that game. It will be amazing for everyone at the football club and we can go there with no pressure, it is the FA cup so I will be hoping for a bit of magic! I have played them in the youth cup before for Arsenal and they knocked us out so I owe them one!”
