Big Boost For Squad

1 August 2015

Weso and Natty given the all clear

There has been a big boost for the Town squad as they prepare for the season opener next Saturday at home to Milwall.

James Wesolowski and Nathaniel Knight-Percival have been given the all-clear by their specialist to resume full training.

The pair picked up knee ligament injuries earlier this year, they needed surgery to fix the damage and since then they have worked hard to fight back to fitness.

It is good news for manager Micky Mellon as he plans for Town's Sky Bet League 1 campaign:”They’ve got the go-ahead from the specialist to be available for selection, so it’s great credit to the lads and Chris Skitt in getting them to this stage so quickly.

“I’m delighted and it’s like having two new signings added to the group because they’re two really important characters and players.

“To have them available at this stage is tremendous news for us.”

Town fans will now be hoping to know when they will be able to see the pair back in first team action.  It is going to be a few weeks but as Weso and Natty have been hard at work over the summer and pre-season their fitness is very high:“I think we’ll continue to look at them with one thing in mind, that they’ve only just been given the go-ahead to resume absolute full training.

“We’ll have a look at it but if you asked those two, they’d say they could play today against Tranmere.

“We’ll see how it goes but when you’ve got two such talented players like that, you have to hold back a bit because you want them right now.

“But it really does feel like two high-profile signings for us.”

The news is a boost for the manager and for the Town squad with two such popular members of the squad close to being available:”They’re two good people who are well-liked and people have seen the amount of time and effort they’ve put in to getting back.

“They haven’t had a break because all through the summer they’ve worked really hard to try to get back as quickly as they could to be a part of the team.

“It’s been really inspirational to see the way they’ve trained and attacked everything that they’ve done.

“So I’m really pleased for them now because they can look forward and put that behind them.

“I believe they will come back even better players.

“I’ve had a long-term injury myself and I know what it felt like to get that go-ahead and you start to appreciate things more and make sure you get the most out of everything because you know what it was like to have it taken away from you.

“So they will come back stronger mentally and physically.”
