Midfielder Looking Forward To Facing Former Club

“I’m a midfielder who likes to find passes for my teammates.

“I hope that I will make passes for the team, make the team play and give assists to my strikers. I think that’s why the gaffer brought me here- to have an impact on the team.

“I hope the fans will enjoy my football and support me. I will give my best and I hope we’ll have a good time.”
Asked what sort of player he is, Grandin responded:

“I still had one year left in Romania so decided to stop it. I then prepared with French team Caen,” he reflected.

“Caen gave me the opportunity to get fit and to train with the team, but I had some moments where I was on my own, which wasn’t easy.

“Then I was going to sign in Saudi Arabia but I didn’t because it’s far from family and also a different country so it would not have been easy.

“I haven’t played in a long time. That’s why I’m working hard to get my fitness up- I think I’m nearly ready to play and looking forward to show all the Shrewsbury fans what I can do.”

Grandin is now determined to prove himself in League One.

“I’m feeling good. The staff have tried to make me work hard to get my fitness up,” the 28-year-old said.

“I’m very happy to be here. Everyone is nice to me and I would like to thank the gaffer for bringing me here.

“I’m happy to go back there (Blackpool) because the fans have been incredible with me. They always supported me so I’m glad to be going back to Bloomfield Road.”

Nevertheless, Grandin’s focus is fully on helping Town earn the right result against a team just two places and three points above them in the table.

“I’m just an old player of Blackpool. I’m now with Shrewsbury so I hope to win because I think it’s a massive game,” Grandin said.

“I know some people there and we are friends but as soon as we kick off, it’s a game. I’m just looking forward to playing and doing good things with the team.

“I’m not thinking about Blackpool or the fans, I’m just thinking about playing well and winning.”

And the former France Under-21 international is delighted to be back in England after a tumultuous couple of years.

Town recently signed the former Seasider, who was on the bench for the goalless draw at Fleetwood, until the end of the season last weekend.

Midfielder Elliot Grandin is looking forward to facing his former club Blackpool with Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
