Matchday Smoking Area Trial

27 November 2014

Area outside Surridge Stand to trialled against Burton

Shrewsbury Town are going to trial a smoking area outside the Surridge Stand (West Stand) at this Saturday’s game v Burton Albion.

This will take place at half time with exit gates 9 situated close to the buffet opened at the half time whistle. There will be some cones placed immediately outside and fans are asked to remain within the coned area which will be stewarded.

The gates will be closed upon the start of the second half and fans will be warned when the players come out for the second half. It is hoped that fans don’t abuse this and try to stay outside longer than the above period of time or move outside the coned area.

The club have done this after listening to fans who smoke and have successfully trialled it on the away stand at the last two games.

It should be noted that the club actively encourages a healthy lifestyle through its community trust activities and are doing this to accommodate fans who smoke.

Smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes inside the stadium remain prohibited.
