Manager Looking Forward To Second Event
Manager Micky Mellon says he can’t wait for his second Sign and Dine evening at Shrewsbury Town this evening.
Last time, the fans had a chance to grill Micky, Mike Jackson and Danny Coyne about their plans to escape League Two while sampling food that had been cooked and prepared by the trio.
With last year’s promotion still fresh in their minds, and many new signings coming through the Greenhous Meadow door, the sign and dine evening offers an excellent opportunity for fans to put their thoughts and questions to the manager and find out the plans for next season.
“We did it last year and it was a huge success, not just because it’s me running round like a nutter serving people, but it was good to get in amongst the fans who can get face to face and ask you questions,” said Micky.
“It’s important we get to know the fans and there are no barriers here at this football club between me and the supporters.
“It’s their football club and I try to give them every piece of information and respect that they deserve and need to know certain things.
“So this is just another opportunity to do that and also go and have a bit of a laugh and spend my time with the punters.”
Micky and his staff have already been out in the community having last week faced off against a Reman XI cricket team and Micky believes that the community spirit shown then and in previous events is something that must be maintained.
“I think the main thing that we come out with what we are trying to achieve which is spending our time with the community,” added Micky.
“We are trying to get in among the community even more this year and keep that bond going between us because it’s going to be important as we’ll need each other as the season goes on.”
The event will be held in the Sovereign Suite at Greenhous Meadow tonight and we ask everyone who is attending to arrive for 6.30pm for 7pm start.
