Nat Knight-Percival post Barnsley

Defenders thoughts after Barnsley and looking ahead to the weekend

Nathaniel Knight-Percival was disappointed with the heavy 3-0 defeat at home to
Barnsley and is hoping the squad can add some consistency to their game:
“We made too many fundamental mistakes, including myself and as a defensive unit we were poor. We weren’t at it like we were at Cardiff so it is disappointing to lose in that sort of manner.”
“We were solid against Cardiff so it is unexplainable why we couldn’t do that again today, we have to be more consistent for the rest of the season. We just need to keep working together as a team and keep going over our roles to keep it tight at the back.”

The defender is calling on the Shrewsbury fans to get behind the team in their attempt to avoid the drop:
“We do look at the tables and are aware of our position but we just approach each game individually and work towards each game. The morale isn’t bad with the lads. We are obviously disappointed that we are losing games but we are aware of how we can fix things to make sure we improve and we are confident of doing that. We need everyone to pull together to get us out of the drop zone, hopefully the supporters will stick with us and help to get us through it.”

The 28-year-old admits it has been a busy transfer window but feels the squad has improved as a result:
“I haven’t experienced a window as busy as this for a club I am at but it is good to see new lads coming in who can add quality and compliment the side. The manager has done his research and all the lads have fitted in well so far, it has given us a little lift which we needed. The lads coming in have a lot of experience which is exactly what we need in the position that we are in.”

Shrewsbury face Burton next and Knight-Percival is relishing being the underdog:
“From the outside it will seem like we are underdogs but that can work in our favour. We will go into the match with our minds focused on getting the win, anyone can beat anyone in this league so we don’t think we will go there and be beat.  After losing a game you want the next game to come as soon as possible so you can put right what you did wrong in the previous game. Burton have done very well this season and have carried on from where they left off last season but we don’t fear them.”
