Woodsy thoughts after the Chesterfield defeat

Ryan Woods was dejected after Shrewsbury Town were defeated at home to Chesterfield. The 21 year old felt the whole team let themselves down with a poor showing:
“The performance was disappointing to say the least. They turned up with a game plan and it just didn’t happen for us tonight, everyone is really gutted but we have to go into training on Thursday giving 100% to be ready for our next game. We will go home and reflect on it but it is important when we are back in training that we focus on the Oldham game.”

The midfielder gave credit to Dean Saunders’ side for getting a result and admits Shrewsbury need to improve:
“We never got going which is really hard to take. Football is a harsh game when it is like this but that is just the way it is. As a team it just didn’t work out and fair play to Chesterfield they came here and got the result but we really need to be doing better than that.”

Woods is already looking forward to Oldham and is confident Town can get their first win in the league there:
“We are hoping to get our first three points of the season at Oldham. We have a very strong squad here despite our performance today and there is no reason for us not to go to Oldham and get the win we are desperate for. We never go on the pitch thinking we won’t win the game. The games are coming in thick and fast now which gives us the chance to put results like this behind us quickly.”
