Midfielder Pleased To Pick Up Major Gongs
“There’s definitely always room for improvement. I can definitely add more goals to my game,” he insisted.“Considering the amount of games I’ve played, I should definitely be looking to score more goals. I’ve missed quite a few chances this season, which is frustrating.
“The most I’ve ever got in a season is nine so if I can get close to that I’ll be happy.”
Nevertheless, typical of his modest character, Ogogo admits that there is still plenty to work on in terms of his overall game- with the ex-Arsenal youth player targeting more goals next season.
“There are flair players in the team, like Larnell (Cole) and Sullay (Kaikai). I do the other side that sometimes goes unnoticed,” he commented.
“It’s a big part of my game. Playing in centre-mid, you’ve got to be fit and be a box-to-box player. I like to leave everything out there.
“I know what I bring to the team and I think every club needs a player like that in their team. I just try to do my best.
“It’s nice to know that the fans and players know that you put in 100% and did the dirty work to make the flair players shine.”
An engine in the middle, the 26-year-old suggested that doing what some would regard as the ‘dirty work’ is all part of his job as a central midfielder.
Ogogo has made more appearances than any other Salop player this season, featuring in a remarkable 49 games in all competitions.
“Winning one award is nice but to win two is very nice,” Ogogo said.
“It’s nice to know that fans and fellow teammates appreciate the work that you put in during matches.
“There have been a few good performers this season so it was a nice surprise. I had to try and go out there to give my best so it’s nice to know that they’ve seen the work I’ve put in.”
And the former Dagenham and Redbridge player was evidently pleased to see that his efforts throughout the season have not gone unnoticed by his teammates and supporters.
Ogogo received the illustrious prizes at Town’s annual end-of-season awards evening, which took place in the Sovereign Suite at the Greenhous Meadow on Sunday.
