FULL-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 2-1 AFC Telford United

HALF-TIME (AET): Shrewsbury Town 1-1 AFC Telford United

And from the resulting corner, Callum Grogan's shot from close range was saved on the goal-line by Willdigg, with the defender claiming the ball had cross the line.

Town started extra-time strongly and Kenton tried his luck with an effort from 30 yards out which fizzed and Willdigg just about manager to turn it around his left post.

Joe Kenton also found McAtee on the right side of the box in the 90th minute and his effort across goal was tipped away but, after three minutes of added time, the game headed for extra-time.

Shrewsbury pressed for a winner late on and McAtee sent a half-volley just wide while Willdigg got down to a curled free-kick from Gallagher.

And Telford found an equaliser in the 76th minute as Osei hooked in from close range after a scramble in the Town penalty area from Reis Mahey's cross.

Hassall, along with Hughes, was forced off with around 20 minutes to go through injury.

Shrewsbury then had a great chance to double their lead as McAtee cleverly dummied Gallagher's pass into George Hassall which sent the striker in one-on-one, but Hassall's powerful shot was saved at close range.

John McAtee also turned and shot just over on the edge of the Telford box for Town.

With 54 minutes on the clock, Nathan Millis tried his luck with a free-kick from around 25 yards out but curled the ball over.

The ball then fell nicely for Roberts inside the penalty area and his low shot was also superbly stopped by the 'keeper.

The first saw Callum Grogan's close-range header from Chris Gallagher's corner on the left well-saved by Telford goalkeeper Mitchell Willdigg.

Within seven minutes of the restart, Town had two great chances in the space of seconds to double their lead.

HALF-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 1-0 AFC Telford United

Jones should then have had his second five minutes later but his shot was denied by a fantastic goal-line clearance from Telford's Neon Manu, meaning the young Shrews held only a one-goal lead at the break.

And Shrewsbury took the lead in the 34th minute as Millis crossed from the left, Jones gathered the ball in the box before creating space on his left foot to fire into an empty net.

Telford's first effort of the night saw Lewis Jarman shoot straight at Leon Reece just past the half-hour mark.

Town pressed in search of the opener and Jack Butts sent a cross from the right to the far post which opposite wing back Nathan Millis was just unable to get on the end of.

It was a fairly even start on the Greenhous Meadow pitch as rained poured down, although Shrewsbury went closest to taking the lead in the opening stages when defender Callum Roberts drove towards the edge of the Telford box and hit a shot which skidded across goal and hit the far post before rebounding away in the 18th minute.

FIRST HALF

Ryan Sears, Callum Roberts, George Hughes, Christopher Gallagher, Jack Butts and Ethan Jones all started in place of Joel Bonner, Joel Carta Agbozo, Ryan Barnett, Charley Higgs and Mathew Jones.

Head of Academy coaching Ian Dawes made six changes to the side which were beaten by Blackpool on Saturday. TEAM NEWS

Striker Ethan Jones had given Shrewsbury a first-half lead on the night and Town had enough chances to win the game in 90 minutes, but they will now face either Ilkeston or Burton Albion away in the Second Round Proper.

The midfielder popped up with just a minute of extra-time remaining in the tie at Greenhous Meadow to send a looping header into the visitors' net after Telford's Ben Osei had forced the game to extra-time with less than 15 minutes of normal time left.

A late header in extra-time from substitute Josh Agbozo fired Shrewsbury Town to victory over rivals AFC Telford United in the FA Youth Cup First Round Proper on Tuesday night.
