"I think we have a solid group of players," he said.

"I have good mates here and they have great ability. We know the lads that have come in too so we need to keep working hard as a group and keep our head down and start creeping up the table.

"I would love to get Liverpool in the next round because I am a massive fan so that would be brilliant, I would be over the moon to play in front of the kop.

"I have been in the draw a few times and I have been disappointed but the main thing is to get through and try and progress no matter who we play."

Mangan is confident Shrewsbury can start to climb the league table and is hoping for a visit to Anfield in the next round of the cup.

"I want to thank the fans for their fantastic reception on the night and I will do everything I can to pay them back," said Mangan.

"I know some will be a bit sceptical of me returning but I am really excited and will do everything to help the Club.

"That was my first game for a while so I will definitely improve and get sharper with more play time.

"I am buzzing to be back here. I was disappointed with how it went at Tranmere but I have a good relationship with the Chairman and manager there and it must have been a tough decision to let me leave.

"I love Shrewsbury, the fans are brilliant and I have a great relationship with the manager here, he has signed me three times now so he isn’t sick of me yet!”

The 29-year-old thanked the fans for their welcome on his return to the club and expressed his content at being back at Shrewsbury.

"It felt great to beat such a big team," said Mangan.

"We showed great character and strength of mind. I couldn’t have imagined my debut to go like that and I owe the manager so much for taking me back.

"I think we played some great football, Cardiff had their moments but I think it was the right result in the end.

"The lads could have been down after the defeat last week but we have a great bunch of men at this Club and to go there and deserve the win is a brilliant feeling."

And the striker felt the team deserved the win on the night/

Mangan, who only re-signed for Town recently, headed home the winner from Scott Vernon's cross just past the hour mark on Sunday evening.

Striker Andy Mangan was ecstatic to score the winning goal for Shrewsbury Town as they beat Cardiff City away in The Emirates FA Cup Third Round Proper.
