Armed Forces Matchday Against Colchester

8 October 2015

Join Us For Our 2nd Annual Armed Forces Matchday!

We hope you are able to join us for a fantastic day out, and hopefully a home win!

"After last years successful Fan Park we are looking forward to hopefully improving the experience the fans will receive on 10 October.

"As a football club it is vitally important that we engage with all military groups in the local area and help where possible."
Shrewsbury Town in the Community manager Jamie Edwards said:

It really is a fantastic demonstration of precision and skill. Finally, during half time of the match, there will be a military band performing to keep the fans entertained.

As fans with tickets enter the stadium ahead of the 3pm kick-off, weather permitting, RAF Shawbury will be delivering the match ball via helicopter straight into the stadium.

For current Forces personnel, please contact your local Hive for further details about obtaining a free ticket.

Shrewsbury Town have again provided 500 free tickets for Forces personnel and their families for the match.

The Army & Air Cadets will also be on hand for younger fans to learn about the fun activities they can get involved in.

It’s an excellent opportunity to meet service personnel both regulars and reserves and get an understanding of what they do both at home and abroad.

Activities include a mobile climbing wall, static helicopter tour, laser pigeon shooting, military arsenal display and tours of the latest military vehicles.

The first part of the day on 10 October will consist of a ‘fan park’ which opens at 1pm outside the stadium to all members of the public (including those without match tickets) with activities being FREE of charge.

In partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant, Shrewsbury Town in the Community hosted its first Armed Forces fan park last season for the game against Burton Albion at Greenhous Meadow.

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to be hosting the 2nd annual Armed Forces matchday for the game at home to Colchester United on Saturday 10 October.
