"It's nice to score goals, I've done it every time that I've played at this level," said Grant.
"I've scored goals where I've been and I've always said to the manager that they'll come.
"It's not about me scoring goals, it's about performances and if I can perform well for the team, and the team can perform well like we have been doing, then I'll be a happy lad and when the goals come along it's alway nice when they hit the net."
But the 24-year-old insists his and the team's performances are more important than any personal goals.
Grant scored three goals in the space of a week against Accrington Stanley and Cambridge United in March.
"It's always nice when you've got something to aim for," he said.
"That keeps you on your toes and keeps you wanting to do better."
"We're on the same points as Wycombe but we've got a very good goal difference and even our goals against shows just how good the defence are."
And Grant feels that being behind in the race for top spot at the moment gives Town something to target.
Town sit five points behind league leaders Burton with eight games to go.
"These are the games we want to play in," said Grant.
"Portsmouth are a massive club and to get 17-18,000 thousand fans for a League Two fixture is incredible.
"We've got lads here who want to go there and win. We won't be going there to draw or just to make the numbers up, we're going there to get the points and move on."
And Grant is adamant that, despite the size of the crowd his side will be up against, the Shrews will be going to the South Coast for all three points.
Pompey have the highest average home attendance in League Two this season - more than 15,000.
