However, Bury were awarded a controversial penalty five minutes into added time at the end of the match, with Robert Bourne converting from the spot for the hosts.

But striker Ethan Jones quickly pulled on back before equalising with a deft lob within two minutes of the second half starting.

Town had fallen two goals behind in the opening ten minutes at Carrington Training Ground as Nathan Turner and Jake Durham struck for the Shakers.

FULL-TIME: Bury 3-2 Shrewsbury Town

And Bourne, the Bury captain, stepped up to rifle the resulting penalty into the bottom right corner.

However, Bury stole the victory five minutes into added time at the end of the match when Joel Carta was penalised for a challenge in the Town box - seemingly doing little wrong.

Jones also squared the ball from the right for Wilson who poked the ball just wide as he stretched with 20 minutes to go.

Ethan Jones then went close to his hat-trick approaching the hour mark as he cut inside from the left and saw a powerful shot to the near post beaten behind.

Jordan Wilson also looked to pull off a similar effort for Town moments later, but his effort went over.

Town grabbed their equaliser in the 47th minute as Callum Grogan chipped the ball over to the inside right of the Bury penalty area and Ethan Jones deftly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.
HALF-TIME: Bury 2-1 Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury looked for an equaliser before the break. Chris Gallagher chipped a free-kick over at the top corner and Jordan Wilson dragged a shot wide, meaning Bury held a one-goal lead going into the interval.

It took Town just two minutes to respond, however, as Ethan Jones pulled a goal back by drilling a low shot into the far right corner after the ball was worked up to him.

And Bury doubled their lead in the ninth minute Durham fired into the bottom left corner from 20 yards out after being found in space.

However, the hosts took the lead in the fourth minute when Turner tapped in from two yards out at the far post after a low cross from the right.

Bury got the game underway at Carrington Training Ground but it was Shrewsbury who had the first purposeful attack as Shamsi's cross-cum-shot from the left was tipped away from goal by Michael Papastylianou. FIRST HALF
