Soccer Schools Children Receive Surprise Visit

Children at Shrewsbury Town in the Community's Summer Experience were treated to a surprise visit from 11 first-team players and manager Micky Mellon on Thursday afternoon.

The Summer Experience soccer school, which took place inside Greenhous Meadow, was the first soccer school of it's type in Shropshire.

45 children, who attended the week's soccer school, took on the players in the stadium skills challenges which included foot pong, football tennis, foot bowl and tyre shot.

The players: Liam Lawrence, Abu Ogogo, Mat Sadler, Kaiman Anderson, Mickey Demetriou, Dominic Smith, Tyrone Barnett, Darren McKnight, Callum Burton, Mark Ellis and Martin Woods all got involved.

They also signed autographs and posed for pictures with the children as part of another of the community department's fantastic projects.

Town defender Mat Sadler said: "We saw them watch us train earlier and when they're off school it gives them something brilliant to do.

"It was a good atmosphere and we love having them around."

Soccer schools projects coordinator Alex Jones commented: "It was great to have the players come over and try out some of the challenges that the children have done during the week.
"It's been a fantastic week and the kids have had a really good time."

Shrewsbury Town in the Community will be delivering their popular soccer schools all over Shropshire this Summer.
