100% Attendance Evening Held At Shrewsbury Town

9 October 2015

ITC Host Evening For Children With Outstanding Attendance

“They get the opportunity to see a lot of the ground here, much more than they would on a match day and with the great entertainment on offer from Magic Kev as well, it really is a great incentive for the kids to make sure they’re attending school.” He said:

Community sports programme lead and MC for the two nights, Alex Jones, feels staging the event at the home of Shropshire’s only Football League club is a great carrot to dangle in front of the kids.

The children, along with their parents, were entertained by Magic Kev in the Sovereign Suite at Greenhous Meadow before being presented with their certificates and given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour including visits to the changing room and pictures in the manager Micky Mellon’s dugout seat.

“We are delighted and privileged to play an important role in making sure children attend school.

“This is a continuation from last year and as a football club we feel we have a social responsibility to all the young people in Shropshire to encourage learning and 100% attendance is all part of that.”
Shrewsbury Town in the Community manager Jamie Edwards said:

Shrewsbury Town in the Community have run this event for the past two years and are thrilled to be involved.

Over the course of Wednesday and Thursday evening, over 51 schools were represented by 305 children who have not missed a single day of school over the last school term.

School children from around Shropshire were rewarded for their outstanding attendance at Greenhous Meadow - the home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
