Collins On Top Scorer Award

Striker Pleased To Net Goalscorer Award

"It is always nice to finish the season as top goal scorer," admitted the former Aston Villa man.

"I knew I was getting the award, but to be recognized as the club's top scorer is brilliant,.

"They came in dribs and drabs and I think that, personally, I should have got more, but I am happy with the return and the main thing is we got promoted and it is onwards and upwards next year.

"It will be a big challenge in League One but the calibre (of player) we have in the team and the knack the gaffer has of bringing good players in should give us a good chance of being successful next season."

Colins, 24, scored 15 goals in 42 starts in the league this season, netting some crucial goals at important times along the way to play his part in ensuring Town’s promotion push remained on track.

Striker James Collins was pleased to pick up the top-scorer award at Shrewsbury Town’s end-of-season awards night on Sunday - and has already switched his focus to next season.
