"The talk was to give the scholars the help to develop their mental skills and toughness within the football academy.

"There's lots of good skills they can use and it's upto them now to take it away and work on it on their own.

"The LFE provide these opportunities once a year. This is the second time he's been in over the last two years."
Steve Parry, head of education and welfare for the scholars, said:

"It gave us a lot of insight on how we need to think about how we going into training and what you can do to improve your mentality.

"It's very important because, if you have goals, you need to up yourself to get to the next level."
First-year scholar Chris Gallagher said:

In working with athletes, Jamie’s strategies have been tested at the highest levels of sports such as the Rugby World Cup, the Ashes, Ryder Cup, Extreme Sports and the Premiership and provides mental training for players at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon.

Jamie is a leading peak performance coach and international speaker - an identity he has established through his ability to help elite sports stars, organisations and individuals to create the results they aspire to.

The talk, which took place in the Arthur Rowley lounge at Greenhous Meadow, is a yearly excercise organised by the LFE (League Football Education).

Shrewsbury Town scholars were inspired by a motivational talk from former England basketballer Jamie Edwards on Monday morning.
