Leutwiler On Sheffield Wednesday Clash

29 January 2016

Goalkeeper Feels FA Cup Tie Can Show Town's Level

"I wouldn’t say the cup is less important, no," Leutwiler continued.

"It’s a great competition and we have to try and go the furthest we can.

"Of course, the most important thing is that we stay in League One this season.

"But [Saturday] is a great opportunity for everyone – for the club, for the fans, and for us to play a good game.

"We always do well against big teams and I don’t think that’s going to change. I think we’ll be in good shape on the day."

Leutwiler also insists that although League One form is the main thing, the FA Cup is just as important.

"It will be great to play a Championship team to show where I am and where the whole team is," he said.

"[It may prove] whether or not you can produce the level to play higher or not.

"It’s good to know if you feel comfortable against them. I hope to prove that as of course I’d like to play at the highest level.

"They are a massive club and although they’re not in the Premier League, they’re on the way there.

"It’s like when we played Norwich last season – it’s a great game for everyone and I’m really looking forward to it."

And Leutwiler thinks taking on a side from the division above provides the Shrews with a great incentive to show how good they are.

The Owls, who are currently sixth in the Sky Bet Championship, travel to Greenhous Meadow (3pm kick-off) to face Town who are looking to bounce back after defeat to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler sees Shrewsbury Town’s FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as a platform for the team to show their level.
