Goalkeeper Pens New Two-Year Deal With Town
"I have improved a lot. I am much better since I have come here with him and he has been very good for me," he said."I know him really well and he has played a big part in me signing this contract."
Leutwiler also reserved praise for goalkeeper coach Danny Coyne and said he played a big part in helping him decide to stay on at Shrewsbury Town.
"I am not very old, Mark is very close to me in age but obviously for Callum or Shaun (Rowley) we try to help them and improve them," said Leutwiler.
"The time here has been good. The first year was pretty amazing – maybe too good for a first year and people expect more after that but it was a really good year and last season was a bit up and down for me with the head injury.
"I have never had so many injuries in one season so it slowed the season down a bit for me and I played less games, but I enjoy it all the time so that is why I have re-signed here.
"I want to achieve a better season than last season. I want less injuries as well because there is nothing worse than being injured.
"I want a better season for the whole team and the whole club so we don’t have to struggle so much and have so many up and downs. We have to be more consistent."
The 6 foot 4 inch goalkeeper said that he enjoys the competition for the number one shirt and likes to pass on his experience to the younger keepers.
“I am really happy to sort it out and I am looking forward to the start of the season now,” Leutwiler told shrewsburytown.com.
"First of all, the club, the environment and everything to do with Shrewsbury is very important to me and that was a massive factor in me re-signing here.
"I think I have played 90 games in two years here so I hope to make another 90 in the next two years or even more.
"It is just a pleasure to play all the time and I enjoy it every time."
However, the Swiss stopper, 90 appearances for Town, has committed his future the Club by signing a new deal.
Leutwiler, 27, was coming to the end of his two-year deal this summer after signing for Town in 2014.
