Jean-Louis Reads With Meole Brace Students
"A big thanks to Meole Brace Secondary School for letting Jean-Louis and Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust come in to speak to the boys."It was great for Jean-Louis to talk about his favourite books as a child and the boys were really engaged and they took this into there own reading with him." Aiden Wassell, health and inclusion officer for Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust, said:
"It's nice to have a role model in Jean-Louis come down to the school.
"The pupils really did cling to every word he said and it was nice to see.
"Speaking to Jean-Louis links in with their French learning. It's been nice to think about world book day and have some of the students read to Jean-Louis.
"Hopefully the pupils will be inspired to go down and see what Shrewsbury Town Football Club is all about." Owen Roberts, literacy coordinator at Meole Brace Secondary School, said:
"It was a very interesting visit. Their French was quite good and it was a very interesting discussion.
"When I was a kid my favourite book was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was quite a long book, maybe around 200 pages!" Akpa Akpro said:
The striker had previously visited Meole Brace Primary School with Nathaniel Knight-Percival in January to teach a French lesson.
He also judged a reading competition during the visit to the library, with George Greenaway and Harry Elms running out as the winners.
The Frenchman answered a range questions from the year-eight pupils at the school about being a footballer and also put their French to the test - a subject they study.
Shrewsbury Town striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro visited Meole Brace Secondary School for World Book Day on Thursday afternoon.
