Evans Hails His Side's Second-Placed Finish

"I'm absolutely delighted for everyone connected with the team," said Evans.

"The team deserves the success. They have worked tremendously hard all season.

"The focus from day one was to be challenging at the top of the league.

"The girls kept focused and have now got the rewards for their efforts.

"Over the season, some of the performances have been superb. We have five players who finished in double figures for goals.

"Nat Turner finished on 31 goals and as third top goalscorer in the league.

"Then we have Tania Prior, Daisy Bradshaw and Penny Owen chipping in with close to 20 goals. Tash Broome, a centre back that has scored 16 goals,  so it's an unbelievable effort.

"All of those goals have come from everyone putting in 110 per cent and wearing the shirt with pride.

"There are plenty of highlights over the season. For me personally, it's a very proud moment.

"To deliver a promotion and add to the excellent success that Shrewsbury Town has had this season means a lot.

"I'm really looking forward to next season and the challenge of a new division.

"Work has already begun in strengthening the squad ready for it.

"We have nothing to fear in the West Midland league. This is only the beginning for us."

Town won 20 of their 24 games during the season, and Evans was full of praise for his players as they made it a double promoton for Shrewsbury Town.

Promotion hinged on the final game of the season for the Ladies but Wyrley's withdrawl meant Town got the win they needed to finish second in the table.

Shrewsbury Town Ladies manager Sean Evans has praised his side after they achieved promotion to the West Midlands League 1.
