Defender Proud Of Performance On The Night
"I thought the fans were outstanding, they didn't stop singing," said Tootle."To go all the way down on a Tuesday night, I thought they were outstanding.
"I hope we made them as proud as we could do."
Tootle also praised the 735 travelling Town supporters who got behind their team throughout the night.
"I've played there in my career already (wing back) so I know the role," he said.
"I feel a little better playing it here with the players we've got, we feel very solid."
And Tootle, who played in the right wing-back role, felt comfortable operating in the formation.
Manager Micky Mellon opted to switch to a 3-5-2 formation for the game, something which has worked in the competition in the past.
"I didn't think they had seen me and Jean-Louis put through a great ball and I just got in there and managed to finish it off, and luckily it went through the goalkeeper's legs," said Tootle.
"I've just hit it low and hard as I've been always been taught since I was younger.
"It was great to get off the mark with a goal to give us the lead and one we had to hold onto.
"Their goal before half-time probably killed us but it was a really strong performance from the lads and we've got to be proud.
"We were solid, had good shape and the 3-5-2 formation gave us a good chance in the game."
It was Tootle's first goal in a Shrews shirt.
Tootle put Town in front in only the 7th minute as he latched onto Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's through ball and finished low under the goalkeeper's legs from the right.
"If we could have just held on in the first half of extra time, we would have had a better chance," said Tootle.
"The lads have got to be proud that we took a Premier League side all the way, though.
"At times in the game we had chances and it was a really impressive performance from everyone involved and I think we just want to try and take the positives out of it."
But Tootle was impressed by Shrewsbury's performance on the night.
The home side went on to win the match 4-1 in extra-time.
Tootle fired Town into an early lead at Selhurst Park, the home of the Premier League Eagles, before Palace equalised through Dwight Gayle from the penalty spot.
