Micky And Grandison Attend Barnado's Grand Opening
The Barnardo’s shop, located in Tilstock Crescent, Sutton Farm is open 7-days-a-week, Mon-Sat 9-5.30, Sunday 10-4 and are always on the lookout for volunteers.“All the money goes to transforming the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in the United Kingdom so it’s a great cause and there’s plenty of great things to buy here," he said.
“I’m becoming increasingly aware of just how much is being done by Shrewsbury Town in the Community for good causes and I’m delighted to see them here today.
“I’ve been starting to see the different charitable engagements and projects that STFC ITC have been involved in and a very wide range of projects, even things to do with safety on roads and railway crossings, as well as events like this.
“I think the Community project is really immersing itself in our constituency and is playing a very important role in encouraging people to get involved and support local causes so I think the more publicity STFC ITC get the better.”
Conservative MP Daniel Kawczynski was delighted with the amount of stock on offer at Barnardo’s as well as the continued efforts of Shrewsbury Town in the Community.
“It’s really nice to be invited down,” said Grandison.
“It’s great to come and meet the fans and people from the area.
“It’s a privilege for me to come to this opening today.”
Both Micky and Jermaine took the opportunity to pose for pictures with fans and sign autographs, including one leg cast, and defender Grandison was pleased that they, as footballers, are able to offer something more off the pitch.
"The day was all about making people aware that we are open in the local community and I think it’s great that charity shops are opening out of the town centre because it brings something different to the neighbourhood," said Gayle.
"As we are so close to the football club I thought it was perfect to reach out to Shrewsbury Town to try and help get us some more attention and hopefully this will bring more footfall through the shop.
“My dad is a huge fan and even had the day off work to come down.
“We really appreciate Micky Mellon and Jermaine Grandison coming down. Micky has offered us fundraising items for the future and said that if we need anything to just give him a call.”
Branch manager of the children’s charity, Gayle McKeon, was delighted with the contributions made by Shrewsbury Town in the Community.
But amongst a sizeable crowd and with astute guests such as Shrewsbury Mayor Miles Kenny and MP for Shrewsbury Daniel Kawczynski, as well as Micky Mellon and Jermaine Grandison, the shop was officially opened.
Barnardo’s has recently opened a shop in Tilstock Crescent, Sutton Farm and have been trading for the past six weeks.
Shrewsbury Town kept up their good work in the community by popping across to Sutton Farm to help relaunch a new charity shop.
