"We know they’re a big club at this level so you know they have the capability of strengthening.
"It’s going to be another good test for us to see if we can do what we want to try and do and that’s get the three points.
"They’re working hard as a unit to try and keep clean sheets and they’re getting a bit of confidence together as they’re getting some results.
"But we believe we’ve got more than enough to have a go and give a good account of ourselves and cause them problems.
"My expectations are always the same and they’re always very high. I want to hit our levels every week and I’ll be focusing on the Blackpool game and only the Blackpool game."
"They’ve spent a bit of money and have been put together gradually over the last four or five months," he said.
Micky was a former player at Bloomfield Road himself and believes Saturday’s opponents have built a strong squad under Neil McDonald.
"He’s a lad I’ve known since he was at Blackpool and was a real talent there and played in the Premier League," said Micky.
"He may be a bit behind with his fitness but we’re working hard to move him forward with that.
"He’s a talented player and in training he’s shown up really well but we’re working with his fitness levels before we can consider him yet for 90 minutes but he’s ready to give an impact for different lengths in games.”
New signing Elliot Grandin, who returns to former club Blackpool on Saturday, made his debut from the bench in Town’s last game and Mellon thinks he can be a key player for the side once fully fit.
"The only thing missing [against Fleetwood] was the finishing," said Micky.
"We created plenty of chances. Defensively, possession-wise and individual work was there but what was missing was the most important thing in the game and that’s putting the ball in the back of the net.
"I have to be fair to us and say that we’re showing a lot of bright stuff and moving towards where we want to be. There’s a lot of hard work still to be done but we are moving in the right direction."
The Shrews hit a blank in their last outing at Fleetwood Town but the Scot insisted his players are working hard to put that right against The Seasiders.
“Of course I’m going to say everyone’s in it together, but they absolutely are,” he said.
"We focus on the next game, on the next half of football and we want to get the first goal in the next game we play in.
"The players are desperate to reach the levels we know they can more consistently so the club is a place that demands high standards of people."
And Mellon believes his squad are all fully focused on fighting for safety and the job in hand on Saturday.
Town travel to Bloomfield Road at the weekend (3pm kick-off) to take on Neil McDonald’s side who are just two places above them in Sky Bet League 1.
