Micky On Comeback At Carlisle United

10 February 2015

Manager Left Stunned By Two Late Town Goals

"That can’t be a coincidence," said Micky on the subject.

"That has to be something we are able to do.

"English football lasts until the 94th or 95th minute and I’m very glad we have come out on the right side."

Town have returned to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table as a result and have won an incredible 18 points from scoring goals inside the last ten minutes.

"We were poor in the first half," said Micky.

"We never competed and they battled us all over the pitch and Jayson Leutwiler has pulled off some spiderman-like saves. He was brilliant.

"At half-time I thought they wanted it more which is really disappointing because I’ve never had to say that.

"But we changed the shape a little bit, the subs improved us and it became a more even game.

"I’m just so pleased we have sent the fans away with a win because we didn’t represent them well enough in the first half."

Micky was delighted with the result after a disappointing first half and felt it was the ideal reward for the Town fans who had travelled such a long way.

"Under all that pressure it really was top draw.”

"When it’s coming across to you like that and you slot it away the way he did was pure class.

"And what a finish from James Collins at the end.

"But to say that was dramatic would be an understatement.

"With a couple of minutes to go you’re thinking about what you are going to say to the players after the game.

"I’ll be honest, I was stunned," said Micky.

But Town showed the fighting spirit which has seen them score many late goals this season and Micky Demetriou thundered home a header to equalise in the 93rd minute before James Collins then won it 60 seconds later by firing in from Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's cross.

The Cumbrians thought they had won the game with 90 minutes on the clock thanks to a second-half goal from Charlie Wyke.
Manager Micky Mellon was left stunned after Shrewsbury Town scored twice deep into second-half injury time to come from behind and beat Carlisle United on Tuesday night.
