Manager Delighted To Have Defender On Board Again
“People forget Jermaine is only 24 and I’d be struggling to tell you many 24-year-olds who have his experience and the ability he has," said Micky.“I’m looking forward to seeing him and all of the players go into League One and show how good he is.
“I’m really excited about that because we’ll be able to see how much the big man has progressed.
“We got the backing we needed and we now feel we’ve got the group in place to be very competitive in a tough division.
“We want to represent the people of Shrewsbury very well and I believe with this group, I’ll be able to do that."
Micky believes Grandison, 24, can grow into an even better player next season.
"He’s been nothing but fantastic (the Chairman) since I’ve been here - he’s always backed me, he lets me get on with my job, and he’s supported me again," said Micky.
"He wanted the players signed as much as I did because he’s a fan and he loves the club.
“We believe it was the right decision for the team and the Club and the fans, and I’m really pleased to be able to get on with the football.
“Now it’s up to me to produce that football that everyone wants to see."
“We’ve got lads here now who have a real feeling for this project and what we want to do and it’s important for them as individuals that we keep it going."
Micky thanked Chairman Roland Wycherley for his support in ensuring Grandison signed up for the new season with Town.
"It’s something we’ve been trying to get done for some time now and everyone was on the same page," said Micky.
"I’m delighted to be able to say I’ve got the squad I want for the Millwall game and that it’s all done and dusted."
And Micky was pleased to get the contract signing over the line in time for the start of the season, in order to complete his squd for the League One campaign.
Defender Grandison, whose contract expired in the summer, signed a new one-year deal on Friday morning and is now registered for the new season.
