Manager Wants To Keep Standards High
Micky was happy to report no fresh injury news with Liam Lawrence and Andy Mangan both nearing a return."A lot of these lads are doing this for the first time, so it’s about getting the balance right and learning the lessons as quickly as possible so we can keep moving forward," said Micky.
"We need the fans right now as much as we have ever had. We need to keep everything as positive as possible, so it’s important that we all keep supporting the players and help them move forward."
Micky has also called for everyone at the club to stick together with the young squad needing the fans' unwavering support heading into the run-in.
"I have a lot of time for big Jim Bentley and Kenny Mckenna who have worked wonders at Morecambe," said Micky.
"You always know you’re in for a tough game up there but we are looking forward to it,"
“I know they will be organised very well. They will know what they have to do very well so the challenge is there for us and we will need to make sure we meet that challenge and overcome it and have a positive result ourselves. "
Micky knows his side are in for a tough game against Jim Bentley’s Morecambe who, despite losing to basement club Hartlepool United at the weekend, are 14th in the table and just eight points of the play-offs.
“I was disappointed with the tempo and our competitive spirit in that first half (at Wycombe)," said Micky.
“We spoke about that and we are trying to make sure we learn as much as we can at this stage of the season.
“It’s that time in the season with ten games to go where every victory now will be massive.
“But I believe in the lads, I trust them and I know what they are capable of.
"When they fall below their standards, it’s my job that they are told that in the right way to make sure we keep taking this terrific football club forward and keep this project moving forward.
“We are in a terrific position, there is no doubt about that, but we need to make sure we keep our standards high and keep doing the basics right."
Micky admits he was far from happy with the performance against the Chairboys and expects an immediate response against the Shrimps.
Town will face the Shrimps at the Globe Arena in Sky Bet League 2 on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off) looking to bounce back from the 1-0 loss at Adams Park over the weekend.
