Manager Insists Town Are Remaining Focused

"It’s important we don’t just bring people to the group because we need bodies, we need to bring people in who we think will come in and improve us or people that we can work with and improve them and make them better.
“We have a few ideas and a few things going on so maybe by the close of the window on Monday we might have another body in."
And with the January transfer window set to shut on Monday, Micky insists he will only bring in players within good reason.
“Mikael Mandron is someone we have all been aware of for quite some time, he is a very talented lad," said Micky.
"He is a big physical presence and technically he is very good.
“We would of tried to get him in even if Andy Mangan was fit to add to what we already had, so we're pleased to have someone of that quality in the group.
“We had to work hard and there was a lot of trust there between the football clubs that one of their prized players who they have real high hopes for has been trusted with us, so we are delighted to have such a talented boy in the building.”
And despite Mikael Mandron arriving in wake of Mangan’s injury Micky insisted he was a player he wanted at Greenhous Meadow anyway.
“He has had a scan but we have not had a results yet but the results will probably come in tomorrow and I will be able to tell you more then, but he won’t be available for the near future for sure," said Micky.
"He is such a good footballer and a good character to have around the place. His character shines through in the way he plays.
"He will be a big loss as he has been terrific for us so he will be a real miss."
But Micky was disappointed that he will be without striker Andy Mangan – who has nine league goals in eight league starts - who could be out for the season depending on a scan.
“We are pleased with the work we have done so far but like we continually say it's only work that’s been done," said Micky, speaking at his press conference at Stan's Cycles.
"We will be keeping our focus and that starts away at Newport on Saturday.
“It’s always a difficult place to go. When they came here they probably had the noisiest and best support that has came to Shrewsbury, together with being a good side, so we know the challenge ahead going down there but it is challenge we are certainly looking forward to.
“I would put our away record up there with any team in the division. It is crucial we keep those points ticking over and keep doing the things we need to do to win games of football.
"We are happy at how we are taking on the challenges and we are looking forward to the ones coming up."
And Micky has been delighted with Shrews' recent performances although he is as always keeping himself and his team concentrated on the next game of football.
Town take on Justin Edinburgh’s side at Rodney Parade on Saturday (3pm kick-off) looking for a third consecutive league win - and could potentially go top if results go their way.
