Micky Mellon On Oldham Athletic Clash

25 January 2016

Manager Believes Latics Will Be Another Tough Test

Micky also confirmed that midfielder Abu Ogogo hopes to be back in training on Thursday.

"I don’t know (when he’ll be back)."

"He only completed about ten minutes of the training session, and not trained on Monday.

"He came to training, tried to join in but had to leave early on Friday.

"He phoned Friday and said he had a bit of a knee problem," said Micky.

The only fresh injury concern for Town was a knee injury to defender Jermaine Grandison on Friday, and Micky is unsure of when he’ll be back in action.

"They’ve got a new manager, so you have that to deal with right away," said Micky.

“[They are] always a really competitive young side at this level. They’re a team full of established League One players and have been in this division far longer than we have.

"So we know we’ve got it all to do again, we’ve got to concentrate on all the things that we say all the time, that enable us to have a chance of winning games at this level.

"We will be fully concentrated on that and know that we will have to do that again, to win this match.

"We’re continually improving and look like getting better, and we want to take that into Tuesday night.

“And we’re looking to try and do that."

But Micky believes their years of experience in League One means it will be another difficult match.

Oldham currently sit second from bottom in League One.

"The feeling very quickly goes, trust me," said Micky.

"Very quickly we’re onto looking at what we could have improved on against Burton, and then very quickly we’re onto dealing with Oldham, so it moves on very fast."

And Micky admitted that it didn’t take long for him to move on from the victory at Burton at the weekend.

Town defeated league leaders Burton at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday but now turn their attention to the midweek Sky Bet League 1 clash with the Latics at Greenhous Meadow (7.45pm kick-off).

Manager Micky Mellon admits Shrewsbury Town are still looking at how to improve on the victory at Burton Albion when they host Oldham Athletic on Tuesday.
