Manager insists it's business as usual on Friday

Manager Micky Mellon has ensured it is business as usually for Shrewsbury Town as his team prepares for a Boxing Day trip to Oxford United on Friday.

Town sit second in Sky Bet League 2 knowing that if they record back-to-back wins, starting at the Kassam Stadium on Friday (3pm kick-off), they will lead the division heading into the New Year.

Micky’s men overcame Morecambe on home soil to extend their unbeaten run to three games, and the manager is hoping to keeps things as normal as possible in the run up to the game.

“It's business as usual for us, this is a really important period and a period where we want to pick up as many points as possible," said Micky.

"We need to try and be as professional as possible and keep our focus on the tough games which are coming up.

“We will have two days of preparation like we normally do.

"Oxford are a good footballing team who are better than where they are in the league for sure, it is always a tough game down there and a great challenge.

"We just have to keep things as normal as possible and keep focused on what’s important, and that is winning games of football, and of course spending time with family but doing that as professional sportsmen."

And Micky had some positive news on the injury front as his squad edges ever further to full strength.

"Andy Mangan is fine, Jermaine Grandison is at training and James Wesolowski is making great progress," he confirmed.

Micky and everyone at Shrewsbury Town wishes supporters a very happy Christmas!
