Manager Delighted With Four Goals At The Blades

"When you see them in evenings like that, it doesn't phase them as they've been in these arenas before," said Micky.

"Zak has tweaked his hamstring so we'll have to measure that in 24 hours so that's a bit of a blow for us.

"Ian's took a knock and there was a lot of ice in the dressing room, but we'll get them dusted down and ready to go again on Thursday and prepared for another fantastic game on Saturday (against Gillingham)."

Whitbread and Black both picked up knocks on the night.

Micky felt experienced players such as Zak Whitbread, Anthony Gerrard and Ian Black showed their composure on the big stage.
"It was a fantastic performance to come here and perform the way that we did," said Micky.

"We were determined that we were going to come here and have a go and we wanted to build on the stuff from the previous games where we felt that we defended really well but weren't as good as what we'd like to be with the ball when we won it back.

"We spoke about that in the last few days and every credit to the boys, I think they defended superbly to a man, and when we did get the ball back we passed it, knocked it around them and scored some great goals.

"The boys showed the character that they do and they battled back.

"I knew that we had a bit of cutting edge and something more going forward on the night and that we would get back in it.

"To come and score four goals at Sheffield United, I would be off the mark if I said it was a fantastic away performance.

"I'm thrilled for everybody at the Club but the work still has to carry on.

"We've not done anything yet other than show we've now got a base to work forward."

The hosts had taken an early lead through Conor Sammon, but Micky was pleased with the great response from his side as they scored three times in ten first-half minutes.

Goals from Sullay Kaikai, Ian Black, Scott Vernon and James Collins gave Town a fantastic victory in the Sky Bet League 1 clash at Bramall Lane.

Manager Micky Mellon was delighted with Shrewsbury Town's 'fantastic' performance in their 4-2 win at Sheffield United on Tuesday night.
