Manager Looking Forward To Another Test

Manager Micky Mellon is looking forward to another tough friendly as Shrewsbury Town face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Championship side will visit Greenhous Meadow at the weekend (3pm kick-off) following a 2-2 draw against Cardiff City last Saturday and a 2-0 defeat against Birmingham City in midweek.

Micky reiterated that there were positives to take from Shrews defeat to the Blues on Tuesday night, however.

"We gave away two cheap goals (against Birmingham),” admitted Micky.

"We have spoke about it this morning and it has been a great learning curb for us so it was good for us.

"In general I was very pleased with some of the stuff that went on in the game and now it is about fine tuning things for when we start the season.

“Overall though we are really excited about the group we have, we still have work on different bits and pieces as a team and individually people need to keep getting fitter and improving techniques.

“Now we will probably want to start getting some of the players on the pitch longer.”

However, Micky was under no illusions and understands this Saturday’s game will be another difficult test for his Shrews side.

"They are a big club,” said Micky.

“We know Wolves are a big strong side that will put us under pressure, but we want to make sure we take part in the game and cause them problems as well.

“But I know Kenny (Jackett) well, he has done brilliantly with Wolves after going up with Millwall.

“It is another tough game and good challenge for us. It will give us another opportunity to learn more about the group."
