SHREWSBURY TOWN LINE-UP

But despite three minutes of additional time at the end of the match, the Shrews could not force an equaliser.

Chris Gallagher also saw a low shot from long range spilled by the Shrimps' 'keeper before he held at the second attempt.

Town continued to press and Wilson sent in a downward header from Tootle's cross which lacked the power to trouble Kieran O'Hara in the Morecambe goal.

McAtee also sent a low shot wide of the left post as Town searched for an equaliser.

Shrewsbury used four of their five subs and one of them, John McAtee, picked out Wilson in space in the box with just over 15 minutes left but after the striker went around the defender his low shot was blocked.

Jordan then crossed from the right at the second attempt and Fleming's header was straight at Rowley.

Morecambe got the second period underway, attacking The Bay Radio Stand, and almost doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Jordan crossed from the right and Molyneux's volley from 12 yards was met by a reaction save from Rowley. HALF-TIME: Morecambe 1-0 Shrewsbury Town

At the other end, Rowley had to make a low stop from Luke Jordan, and the Shrimps held their one-goal lead going into the break.

The Shrews struggled to create clear-cut openings. The closest they came was when Jordan Wilson's cross from the right wing hit the top of the crossbar and went behind.

Morecambe then went close to a second when defender Aaron McGowan pounced on a Town mistake, drove into the box and shot over at the near post.

But, from the resulting corner, a header down at the back post allowed Mullin to tap in from close range to give the Shrimps the lead.

Defender Mickey Demetriou then cleared off the line for Town when Mullin's shot beat Rowley.

Morecambe had the game's first chance in the 18th minute. Molyneux sent a corner from the right to the penalty a spot and, after a scramble, McKnight's low shot was parried by Rowley before Luke Jordan's strike was blocked.

Kenton had to be carried off the pitch and fellow youth team player Chris Gallagher was his replacement.

After both teams observed a minute's silence before kick-off for former Morecame reserves player Barry Elkin, Shrewsbury got the game underway but there was a pause in play in the fifth minute when Joe Kenton and the Shrimps' Lee Molyneux clashed heads.
FIRST HALF

Morecambe's starting line-up featured six professionals while Town's had three - goalkeeper Shaun Rowley, defender Mickey Demetriou and midfielder Matt Tootle.

A close range finish from the Shrimps' Paul Mullin in the first half was enough to give the hosts all three points in the clash at the Globe Arena.

Shrewsbury Town slipped to a narrow defeat at Morecambe in the Final Third Development League - West Division on Tuesday afternoon.
