FULL-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 3-1 Morecambe

It meant Shrewsbury picked up all three points to build on their win at Preston a week before.

Town continued to push for a third and it arrived in 82nd minute when substitute Jacob Rammell sent a corner toward the six-yard box, Maher couldn't keep hold of the ball and Sears bundled home from close range for his first goal of the season.

From the resulting corner, Shamsi saw a fierce, high strike at the far post beaten away by Maher.

Carta then fed Hassall down the inside right and the striker's poked effort from close range was turned behind for a corner.

Barnett also saw an effort from the inside right fly high and wide after being picked out by Butts.

Town got the second half underway and Ravi Shamsi almost grabbed his side third just a minute after the break as he smashed a shot into the side netting from the left.

HALF-TIME: Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Morecambe

Sears also headed over from a Carta corner, and Town went into the break with a one-goal lead.

Barnett also went close to a Town third. Butts crossed from the right, Hassall chested the ball down on the edge of the box and Barnett saw a spinning half-volley superbly tipped over the crossbar by Niall Maher in the Morecambe goal.

Hassall could have completed his hat-trick before half-time when King skipped past two men and fed him through the inside right, but the striker's low shot was well saved.

The midfielder fed a short free-kick to Jack Butts in space on the right, the defender fired in a first-time cross at mid-height and Hassall powered in a header after attacking the near post.

Town took the lead six minutes before the break, though, with King again involved.

King then went close himself moments later after nutmegging a defender and shooting just wide of the right post from around 25 yards out.

Shrewsbury worked the ball forward to Tom King who then slipped in Hassall who shot low into the bottom left corner in the penalty area.

However, Hassall grabbed the equaliser for the Shrews in the 29th minute.

Town should have been level four minutes later when Ryan Barnett's low shot across goal was superbly stopped before Hassall blasted over the rebound in the box.

John Watson swung a corner from the right towards the penalty spot and Dawson volleyed superbed into the bottom left corner.

Morecambe got the game underway and took the lead in the 13th minute.

FIRST HALF

But Hassall responded with two efforts before half-time, and defender Ryan Sears bundled home a third late on.

The Shrimpers took a 13th-minute lead through Paul Dawson in the clash at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

George Hassall struck twice as Shrewsbury Town beat Morecambe in the Football League Youth Alliance - North West league on Saturday morning.
