Knight-Percival On Burton Albion Clash

28 November 2014

Defender looking forward to home return

Defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival is looking forward to returning to the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday as Shrewsbury Town host Burton Albion.

Micky Mellon's side will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Sky Bet League 2 fixture this weekend (3pm kick-off) after last Saturday's defeat at Exeter City.

“We love playing in front of the home fans," said Knight-Percival.

"We always get good support at home. They get right behind us so it’s good to be back at home.”

The Brewers come into the game joint-top of the League Two table with only goal difference keeping them off the summit, but Knight-Percival insists it’s more about what Shrewsbury do on Saturday rather than the opposition.

“We haven’t talked too much about Burton Albion," he said.

"We know they’re a good team but when it comes to Saturday, it’s more about what we do as a team rather than what they do.

"We’ve got to play our game and concentrate on playing the way we know we can play to try and get the three points.”

The defender has made 25 appearances so far this season and has established himself in a back three containing Connor Goldson and Jermaine Grandison, who he believes are two excellent players.

“I’ve played in a three before so I’m quite used to it," said Knight-Percival.

"I’ve played left of back three, centre back and left back so I enjoy playing anywhere really, as long as I’m playing!

“Connor (Goldson) and Jermaine (Grandison) are both superb football players. They’re both strong, quick and have good football brains. They’re good on the ball, have good first touches and have a good presence to their game which is very important.”

Town have boosted their ranks this week with the addition of Josh Passley from Fulham until January 5 to replace Jack Grimmer who has returned to Craven Cottage.

And Knight-Percival believes that Passley will have a similar effect to Grimmer.

“Josh (Passley) has come in and all the lads have got around him. I think he knows he’s here to do a job for us and we’re all going to do that.

"We’re a very close knit team, it was the same when Jack was here. He was fantastic for us and I think it will be the same for young Josh.”
