“Obviously, it’s great to be involved in ties like this. When you’re working 9-5, you don’t think of things like that.“There are plenty of people who have played non-league and had jobs and have moved up to even higher levels of football than I have.
“So it’s not uncommon but it is a nice feeling to put myself against such a big team.
“It is cliché but it’s 11 v 11 so if we play as well as we can on the night then we can certainly get something from the game.” Knight-Percival admitted:
Now, that dream is becoming a reality- one made even more special by the fact that he will be proudly wearing the captain’s armband.
Having worked as a car electronic technician while playing Non-League football with both Histon and Wrexham, the Enfield-born defender could once only dream of playing the likes of Man United.
“They’ve got some amazing players so it will just be a case of keeping our discipline and concentration for the whole 90 minutes,” said the 28-year-old.
“It’s all for us to play for really- we can’t do anything wrong in this situation. We’ve just got to go out and perform as well as we can.
“We believe we can get something from it as well- we’re not here to make up the numbers. We are going to have a right go and try to get something from the game."
For Town, meanwhile, he insists that it is just a case of going out and giving the best possible account of themselves in front of a full capacity crowd.
Knight-Percival is fully aware of the quality possessed in abundance by United but insists that all the pressure is on the Red Devils.
"Everyone’s really looking forward to the tie, especially after coming off the back of three points,” he said.
"It makes the lead up to the week a lot more exciting. Everyone is in good spirits and everyone is looking forward to it.”
And Knight-Percival, who was made captain following the departure of Liam Lawrence in January, says the Club is full of excitement ahead of one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures in Town’s history.
