In a close match, Town pulled level when Caton collected the ball on the edge of the box and hit a dipping shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

The striker took the ball into the box and calmly slotted past namesake Shaun Rowley in the Shrewsbury goal.

The Saddlers started well and took the lead on 14 minutes when Jamie Smith chipped the ball over the defence to an on-rushing Rowley.

Caton, who has recently returned from a loan spell at Southport, started up front and was one of the star performers along with fellow forward Kaiman Anderson.

Caton and Josh Ginnelly were the only players involved with first team experience - the rest of the team being made up of Ian Dawes' youth team.

But James Caton, who has recently returned from a loan spell at Southport, hit a fabulous equaliser for Shrews by finding the bottom right corner from outside the box.

Walsall had taken the a 14th-minute lead in the game at Lilleshall National Sports Centre through Levi Rowley's cool finish.

A trialist at the club stepped up in the 89th minute and hit an unstoppable, bullet free-kick into to the top corner to give Town the win.
