Shropshire Senior Cup trip to the Bucks Head in March
A date has now been agreed for Town's Shropshire FA Senior Cup final with AFC Telford United.The game will take place on Tuesday 3rd March, kick off 7.30pm at the Bucks Head.
The date clashes with the Shrews trip to Accrington Stanley as Chief Executive Matt Williams explains; "The schedules of both clubs are extremely hectic on the season run in and the fact this final clashes with a first team game is regrettable.
"It was already our intention to send a young squad to fulfil this fixture regardless of the date, our focus has to be on finishing as high as we can in the Football League and I am sure AFC Telford's focus will be on trying to retain their Conference status.
"Our Club Secretary has tried in vain to switch some of our Central League fixtures to accommodate a suitable date that didn't clash but as a result of our schedule, Telford's availability and the schedule of those clubs in the Central League it became virtually impossible to commit to a date.
"At no stage has it been our intention to undermine this prestigious competition, we are aware what it means to the people of Shropshire and we have already had a number of discussions with officials from the Shropshire FA to ensure a more suitable format is arranged moving forward.
"As the only professional club in the County, we are keen to have excellent links with all the clubs in the County and everyone at the Greenhous Meadow would like to build on the excellent working relationships we have with the smaller clubs around us."
