Kaikai returns to Palace for final games
Sullay Kaikai has returned to Crystal Palace after the Premier League club recalled their player from his loan at Town.Sullay has played a big part in Town securing their League 1 safety and he now goes back into Palace’s squad for their final Premier League games of the season.
It will mean a change of personnel for Town’s final league game of the season away to Swindon Town.
Town manager Micky Mellon has nothing but praise for the contribution from Sullay during his time on loan.
In terms of what he’s brought to the team he’s been nothing short of fantastic with the goals that he’s got and his work rate”, said Micky.
“We have to say a big thank you to Crystal Palace because he has played a big part in our League 1 survival.
“I’m pleased that he will now return to Palace and may get the opportunity to be involved in their last few Premier League games.”
Sullay has chipped in with 12 goals in his 29 appearances for Town and Micky thinks these goals have been vital in Town’s survival.
“His goals have been invaluable but he’s also a great kid and was great to have in and around the place.
“We will now look forward to seeing his progress in the future because he is a lad of great promise.”
Clubs at Town’s level will always look to bring in young players on loan to bolster the squad. Some will be with a view to a possible but permanent deal but in cases such as Sullay’s they would always be destined to return to their parent club.
“Sullay was always going to go back to Crystal Palace and they have a very exciting young talent there who I look forward to watching blossom.
“We are very grateful to have played a part in his journey as he develops into a very good footballer,
“It’s important for clubs like us that when we get the opportunity to get young talent such as Sullay, Jack Grimmer, Larnell Cole, then we have to try and do that in order to keep us competitive.
“We’ve been successful with that this season and we will have to work very hard in the future to continue to bring in these types of players to help us continue to move forward as a club.”
The focus now turns to Town’s final game of the season away to Swindon Town and the Gaffer is hoping to end the season with a win.
“Someone else will get an opportunity now in our final game of the season.
“We’ll go down there now and enjoy a game of football and hopefully end the season with a win.”
