Training Ground Work Begins

Maxwell Amenity start upgrade of Sundorne Castle site

Following the announcement on Tuesday that the Greenhous Meadow pitch has won the best playing surface in the Sky Bet League 1, the next project for the club and Maxwell Amenity Ltd is the complete upgrading of the clubs Sundorne Castle training ground. The aim is to provide surfaces which will allow Micky Mellon and his team to use them throughout the year.

Work has recently taken place to upgrade the fences and gates around the training ground to help secure the site.  Maxwell Amenity Ltd will now begin the work to improve the drainage and irrigation of the pitches and then install new buildings.

Having successfully carried out a similar project whilst at St Mirren Town’s CEO Brian Caldwell is looking forward to a similar challenge at Shrewsbury Town.

“Dave Saltman (Maxwell Amenity), the Chairman and I have been working very closely over the past few weeks with regard to the Club's new training facility and his specialist advice has enabled us to form a specification and bill of works required, which is an investment of £188k for the first phase to bring the surfaces to the levels required for a professional football team to train on all year round”, said Brian.

“This agreement with Maxwell Amenity Ltd has been concluded now to get full advantage of the upcoming growing season.

‘’Previously the only works that had been done on the facility were to secure the land with a fence and entrance gates and remove old buildings. Now that the land is in the Club’s ownership we are delighted to have agreed this with Dave and finally start to invest in the new facility which will only assist the Club going forward.”
