Weso and Nat Progressing Well

Injured Duo To Join In Pre-season Training

The pair were operated in February after rupturing their cruciate ligaments, since then they have been hard at work to get back to fitness, including talking part in the Community Sport Trusts cycle ride from Shrewsbury to Cheltenham.

James Wesolowski and Nathaniel Knight-Percival are progressing well with their rehabilitation following operations on their ligament injuries.

While the rest of the players have been away on their summer breaks Weso and Natty have been at the club working with physio Chris Skitt to continue their path back to full recovery.

Manager Micky Mellon has been monitoring the progress and it looks like the pair will take part in some of the pre-season training once everyone is back at the start of July.

“I’m careful about what I say because they still have a bit to go,” said Mellon, who will welcome his players back to training two weeks’ today.

“At the moment, it’s looking like they’ll be back for the start of pre-season.

“But they’ve still got a long way to go and it’s a minefield with knee injuries.

“You have to be mindful of other things such as other muscles compensating. But they’re two fighters and they’ve proved that.”

The duo showed last season what good players they are and both have had experience of playing in League 1 before.

“They’re among the best players here,” said the boss.

“They’re working hard and it’s important we get them back because they’ve handled League One with their eyes shut. They have cruised in it so they will have a massive impact on how this club does.”

Mellon added: “Initially they’ll follow the same programme but it might be they don’t need to do some things so we give them an extra few days or whatever.
“We’re hoping we can get them close to the players they were before they got their knee injuries.”
